RIDE GUIDE: UTAH'S SAND HOLLOW STATE PARK, DUNES AND MORE

(6/4/2009)

At 3300 feet in the mountains of Southern Utah you suddenly stumble into a riding area unlike any other. There are literally thousands of acres set aside for this pristine riding area and trail system. There is even a 1322-acre reservoir for boating, swimming and fishing. It sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? Its name is Sand Hollow State Park.

“BLUE WATERS, RED ROCKS AND ACRES OF TRAILS AND DUNES”

The 20,000 acres of Sand Hollow State Park serve up some of the most beautiful riding terrain in the West. You can still get a great dune experience here without limiting your view of the surroundings. This park has nearly everything you need to plan that unique riding vacation you’ve been waiting for. You can even ride that trusty ATV of yours all day long in this gorgeous and relaxed atmosphere that is a few short hours’ drive from Salt Lake City, Utah or Las Vegas, Nevada.
When you are not experiencing the beautiful vistas of blue water, red rocks, or the scenic view of the Utah trails and sand dunes, you will find that the hiking, boating, fishing, mountain biking and horseback riding will keep you entertained while the family gives the ring-dingers a rest.
Sand Hollow also offers two campgrounds, one being the off-highway vehicle camping area, and the other being the group use and four-day area with trail access.
Day use entry fee is $8 a vehicle, and $5 for camping. Their full hook-up campground is $20 per day, and annual passes are available for $70. For more information contact: Sand Hollow State Park at 4405 W. 3600 S., Hurricane, Utah, 84737; (435) 680-0715
