ROCKFORD — For years, ATV and dirt-bike riders around the Rock River Valley have struggled to find places to shred. That battle is about to end.
The Williams Charles Investment company, partnered with Byron Dragway operator Bryant (BJ) Vangsness, will unveil the only legal site for recreational rippers North of Springfield and South of Madison this Friday, called the Rocky Glen Off Highway Vehicle Park. It is located on South Main Street and Southrock Drive just north of U.S. 20, and although there have been folks testing out the trails, the first official day to rip it up is just a few days away.
And this isn’t just some run-of-the-mill trail cut through a cornfield. We’re talking about 15 miles of cutting edge sections for all levels of riders.
“We’ve got something for everybody. There’s beginner tracks and more technical trails, and they’re all cut into the woods with a lake in the background,” said William Charles’ spokesperson Sue Grans, who has headed up the operation, along with Vangsness. “This was very needed around here, and there’s going to be a lot of happy riders out there when they get out here.”
