Under-hood storage for your RZR XP1K, By the staff of Dirt Wheels.
We managed to fit a tool kit, tow rope, tire-plug kit and two water bottles in our Axiom box, and still had room left over.
Storage has always been pretty minimal in sport performance UTVs, and the Polaris RZR XP 1000 is no stranger to that fact. You get one nicely sized glove box in the machine and an open cargo bed. Axiom figured that it would be beneficial for Polaris XP1K owners to have a secondary storage system that bolts up under the hood of your UTV that can hold those few extra items that won’t fit in the glove box, along with all the other important things you need to bring on your trail excursions!
Axiom makes products like bumpers, skid plates, exhaust covers, door inserts, roofs and more for Arctic Cat, Kawasaki, Polaris, Yamaha and Can-Am UTVs. They have a large range of products, and while scanning their website, we saw their RZR under-hood storage box that goes for $129. The box is made of .090 aluminum and has a weather-resistant powdercoated finish that is textured. The construction of the box is strong, and it has a lid that can easily be removed by two latches. The lid is watertight, so your items won’t get soaked if you end up traversing a river or going deep in the mud!
The Axiom under-hood storage box is 14 inches long, 8 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches deep at the front of the box, with the rear of the box 3 3/4 inches deep. It won’t fit every RZR, unfortunately but it does fit in 2014– 2016 RZR XP1Ks and 2015–2017 RZR 900 and S 1000s.
The Axiom under-hood storage box is simple to install. The kit comes with the box, a lid, a foam strip to adhere to your machine, a front and rear mounting bracket, and mounting hardware. All you need to install it is a wrench. First, you slide the front bracket into position under the radiator brackets but above the radiator with the studs sticking upwards. Then, you can install the foam strip on the crossbar for the box to sit on. Next, you set the box through the front mounting studs, place the rear mounting bracket into position and install the screw, washers and nut loosely onto the bracket and box. Finally, you can tighten down all of the hardware, install the lid and the job is done!
The under-hood storage box fits in place securely, though there is a little movement. We are quite happy to have the extra storage space that is out of the way and not in the cab of our RZR. Go to www.axiomsidebyside.com for more information on their products or call (513) 201-0749.
