PRODUCT EVAL: Quadboss ATV Mitts

To take advantage of the protection provided from these kits, simply push your hand in the opening and grab the handlebar. The kits would work great in muddy conditions as well as in the extreme cold. The mitts are lightweight (under a pound each) and fit on every machine we have in our stable.

ATVing is a year-round sport. Depending on where you live in the country dictates what type of riding you will be doing in the winter months. However, chances are you will still encounter cool or downright cold weather. Plus, when you factor in a 50-mph speed of an ATV, the word “bitter” quickly comes to mind. On the positive side, if your body can stay comfortable on a cold ride, the experience could be epic.

The Reflective Series ATV kits are simple to install and easy to use, providing protection any time of year. If it seems weird not being able to see your hands or controls while riding, QuadBoss offers a pair of similar ($59) kits that have a clear plastic window on top. The mitts we tested without the window are only $28.99 per pair.

QuadBoss has just released a new pair of ATV mitts that will help make those winter rides more enjoyable, and with a bargain price of $28.99 per pair, we had to share them with you. The Reflective Series ATV mitts simply slide onto the handlebars of any ATV sport or utility ATV. They are just big enough to clear your controls, and they stay in place with a sturdy Velcro strap. We installed them on a Honda Rancher for the test and they fit great. On the outside, 600-denier polyester wicks away rain and deflects branches along the trail. Reinforced corners protect the rider’s hands even more. Reflective trim placed on all three corners light up at night if light is shined on them. The opening is large enough to fit bare hands or hands covered in thick winter gloves. The inside liner is slippery, and our Klim Windstopper gloves had no problem finding the Honda’s controls.

THOUGHTS
At $28.99 the Reflective Series ATV mitts are the most affordable full-coverage handguards we have ever seen. The padded kit will protect the rider from tree branches or flying debris way better than a standard plastic handguard. Plus, the kits protect up front, on top and underneath. That’s something most handguards can’t do. For wintertime riding we won’t leave home without installing a pair of the mitts on every cold day.
