20th Annual AMSOIL Ironman GNCC Goes Pink in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness

GNCC Community Raises Awareness and Funds for Local Breast Cancer Research

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (September 12, 2014) – In just over a month’s time, the 2014 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, will descend upon Crawfordsville, Indiana to celebrate 20 years of AMSOIL Ironman GNCC Racing. On October 25 and 26, the newly coined Ironman MX facility will play host to the GNCC season finale, which has once again been deemed a “pink race” in honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The goal of Ironman’s pink-effort is to raise awareness and funds locally for breast cancer care and research, while also bringing the GNCC Racing community together for a cause that transcends racing. The pink livery will make a dynamic contrast to the woods, hills and mud of the iconic Ironman GNCC.

GNCC Racing will relax number-plate background codes for the race and encourages riders to run pink backgrounds, available via PowerSports GrafX at ridepg.com. Same as last year, a $22.95 pink front number plate background will result in a $5 donation and a full set of front and side backgrounds retails for $69.95 and includes a $10 donation.

Ridepg.com will also sell exclusive GNCC breast cancer awareness race stickers for a minimum $1 donation. Pink wristbands will also be sold at the track for a $1 donation. Donations will go to the FAITH Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support for those affected by breast cancer-serving as a breast cancer resource for Montgomery County.

The race facility will be adorned in pink, including a special pink podium backdrop. The backdrop will be autographed by each podium finisher during the weekend and auctioned off, with proceeds going to FAITH Alliance. Additionally, pink-themed trophies, awards, t-shirts and plaques will ensure a memorable scene for all. Racers and spectators can get in on the fun by bringing and wearing pink clothes, riding gear, graphics and other decorations.

Adult (12+) gate admission is $20 for the full weekend and $10 for kids (6-11). Kids five and under are free. All admission includes pro pit access. On both Saturday and Sunday, the youth division races are at 8 a.m., amateurs race at 10 a.m., and the top amateurs and pros race at 1 p.m. The final round of Side-by-Side racing will take place at 4:30 p.m., following the ATVs on Saturday afternoon.

The 2014 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series continues September 20 and 21 with the Car-Mate Mountain Ridge GNCC in Somerset, Pennsylvania. For more information on the series, visit www.gnccracing.com.
