ENERSYS RECOGNIZES DECADE-LONG ODYSSEY BATTERY SPONSORSHIP WITH TEAM PENSKE

READING, PENNSYLVANIA — August 29, 2024 — EnerSys, the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of ODYSSEY batteries, is pleased to renew its ODYSSEY battery sponsorship with Team Penske for the tenth consecutive year. Through this long-standing partnership agreement, the ODYSSEY battery brand will be prominently featured across Team Penske competition vehicles including the No. 3 Team Penske Chevrolet driven by 2021 INDYCAR SERIES Rookie of the Year, Scott McLaughlin, the No. 2 Ford Mustang driven by 2022 DAYTONA 500 champion, Austin Cindric, and the latest 2025 Team Penske Chevrolet.

“Over the years, our relationship with Team Penske has evolved from an associate partner across the team’s NASCAR and NTT INDYCAR SERIES programs to a primary partner in which our ODYSSEY battery branding adorns the vehicles of some of the industry’s most elite Team Penske drivers,” said Dave McMullen, Senior Director of Global Marketing, Transportation & Specialty at EnerSys. “The last decade with Team Penske has been an incredible ride and our journey is just getting started; we wish all their drivers a successful year and we look forward to keeping their vehicles powered and in ‘winning’ condition for years ahead.”

“I’m excited to have ODYSSEY battery continue to be represented on the No. 3 Chevrolet into the future,” said Scott McLaughlin. “It’s a beautiful paint scheme that has been very successful for us. Getting my second INDYCAR win in their colors at Mid-Ohio was cool and I know we will have more success in the future.”

In addition to ODYSSEY battery branded exposure throughout the 2024-2025 race seasons, EnerSys and Team Penske will work together to provide technical support to all Team Penske racing vehicles. Several industry-recognized Team Penske drivers are also scheduled to make an appearance in ODYSSEY battery booth no. 24167 at the 2024 SEMA Show, taking place November 5-8 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“It is hard to believe that we have already been working together with EnerSys to support their ODYSSEY battery brand for over a decade,” said Tim Cindric, President, Team Penske. “We are really excited to see this relationship continue as we have built a great foundation together on and off the racetrack.”

ODYSSEY batteries are engineered with Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology that can be made thinner than the plates featured in conventional flooded lead acid batteries, so more fit into the same size footprint to provide greater surface area. This enables more electrochemical reactions with the electrolyte to produce more power than conventional batteries of comparable size. In addition to greater starting power, ODYSSEY batteries provide ample deep cycling reserve power, with engine cranking pulses up to 3,125 amps for five seconds, which is double that of equally sized conventional lead acid batteries. They also feature sealed Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) construction, which packs the plates tightly in absorbent fiberglass separators that hold the electrolyte and make the batteries virtually maintenance-free. The rugged, AGM construction and non-spillable design of ODYSSEY batteries also protect against high-impact shock and mechanical vibration, helping to provide longer service life. Backed by an industry-leading warranty, ODYSSEY batteries feature a two-year storage life at 77°F (25°C) and are available in a wide variety of sizes with Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) as high as 2,250.
