PRODUCT TEST: Fly Kinetic Gear

Fly Racing began in 1998 as a manufacturer of motorcycle handlebars and helmets, and since then has made the transition into developing riding gear as well. Fly now has you covered from head to toe with a variety of helmets, riding gear, chest protectors and boots. Recently, we received a set of their Kinetic Division riding gear. For $172.85, Fly’s Kinetic Division riding gear consists of pants, a jersey and gloves.

Fly’s Kinetic Division jersey is constructed of polyester and mesh fabric. Our test rider felt very comfortable while riding, and when it heated up, the materials allowed great breathability. Mesh panels on the sides and under arms allowed air to flow and keep our rider at a cool temperature during warmer days. In colder riding weather, this jersey works well to still keep you cool, but not so cool that you don’t want to ride. Shorty cuffs with elastic sleeves give a nice loose feel around your wrists to help reduce unwanted arm pump. To help keep the jersey tucked into your pants, the jersey has an extended tail. This jersey retails for $32.95 and comes in sizes youth XL and adult S to XXL, and also features sublimated graphics available in colors black/white, black/gray/hi-vis, red/gray/white, and black/blue/orange found on this model.

Fly’s Kinetic Division pants feature an all-new zipper-lock system to help keep pants closed and secure. A ratcheting fly closure, adjustable waist belt, and comfort mesh liner help keep you comfortable and cool. Leather heat-shield panels with Kevlar stitching located on the inside of each leg help with heat resistance and durability. All of these features make these pants very comfortable to wear while riding and standing/walking off your machine. The sizing of this gear is accurate, and our size-34 pants felt just right from the waist, not being too tight or too loose. Located inside the waistband is an internal pocket to hold smaller items. Pricing for these pants are $109.95.

The Kinetic gloves are super comfortable and lightweight with a soft feeling and retail for $29.95. They provide excellent ventilation, reinforced double-layer palm, reinforced thumb and silicone finger grippers. The gloves are a woven four-way stretch and Lycra-panel construction for flexibility, inflow and comfort. Fly’s Kinetic Impulse helmet is a perfect way to round out the gear selection, and with a retail price of $109.95, that’s fairly decent for a nice helmet. Ten massive vents and large exhaust vents help keep your head at a cool temperature. Constructed of a poly-alloy shell, the dual-density EPS (expanded polystyrene) liner helps keep the weight down and durability strong. This lid is comfortable, and the airflow is impressive.

We went through multiple days of riding to test Fly’s Kinetic Division riding gear with great results. We suggest to hang dry the riding gear to prevent the risk of shrinking and early wear. For around $170, Fly’s riding gear is a good investment. And if you’re looking for a matching helmet, you can spend another $109.95. With gear looking this great, you’ll definitely stand out at the track or your local riding area.
