PORTION OF GLAMIS DUNES DESIGNATED ‘CRITICAL HABIT

53,000 acres of Glamis, in southern California, known as the Algodines Dunes, may be designated as Critical Habitat for a threatened plant. Such a designation would not automatically close the area to OHVs, but keeps the federal government from funding or authorizing activities that could harm the plant, known as the milk vetch. In fact, the BLM is finalizing a plan that would re-open 50,000 acres to motorized recreation that had been closed in the late 1990’s. Glamis is one of the nation’s largest dunes areas and encompasses hundreds of thousands of acres of huge sand dunes. Let’s all do our part to respect the environment while still fighting to keep our riding lands open. Please don’t ride where you’re not allowed to..and please do write letters asking for OHV rights!
