DRT CAN-AM MAVERICK R

DRT CAN-AM MAVERICK R – Goodies galore By the staff of Dirt Wheels

While we wait for the last bit of spring’s snow showers to subside, we took a one-month break from featuring our own Can-Am Maverick project build. Instead, this month we are taking a closer look at the display, R&D, and now race car DRT Motorsports has been using to develop and showcase everything they make for the new machine. We met up with Landon McMath, the president of DRT, just before the Red Bull Sand Scramble race in Glamis to look over his beautiful Maverick R and all of the goodies he and his crew have developed for it. It has a full complement of DRT components, such as radius rods, tie rods, bumpers and mirrors. Out back it features their spare-tire rack/cargo lid. They are developing a full-cargo enclosure that should be ready by the time you read this.

A few items that we didn’t get pictures of are the Rugged Radios M1 radio and Rugged’s two-person air-pumper setup.

Every year, we ask you, our readers, what products and features you would like to see the most in future magazine issues and online. This time, after you finish the SURVEY, you will be entered to win a Braven Tire/Wheel package on us valued over $2,300 depending on the sizes you choose. Thanks for your feedback and good luck. Take the survey here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WJ88PN6

PRP XCR seats bolt to the stock sliders, and the harnesses quickly connect to the tabs Can-Am provides knowing you will want to upgrade from stock. The pair sells for $1459.
The $500 aluminum rear bumper provides more protection for any rearward-facing exhaust tip. The three sets of adjustable radius rods held up great to the racing abuse in the dunes. At $900, it’s money well spent.
The $175 three-piece aluminum grill really brightens up the front end of this Maverick R. Below that, the $300 front bumper adds a lot more protection over the stock plastic unit.
A set of 32-inch Valor Alpha tires wrapped around V09 beadlock wheels, which did surprisingly well in the deep sand of Glamis.
Owner Landon McMath, entered his show Maverick R in the Red Bull Sand Scramble in Glamis just hours after our photo shoot. He finished just off the podium in the Sportsman class.

DRT is working on this deck lid, as well as a sealed unit. Both are strong enough to carry a spare tire. This unit is priced at $785.
The DRT Maverick R caught our eye back at the Salt Lake Off-Road Show. Decked out with DRT’s catalog of accessories and Platinum Wraps’ custom wrap, it’s the best-looking R we have seen to date.
