SEGWAY LAUNCHES NEW AT5 GLADIATOR 499CC ATV

Base and Premium trim levels will be offered

All Gladiator AT5 models and trims come standard with selectable 2WD/4WD and 4WD with differential lock.

While there’s no word on when we can expect the new AT5S Gladiator (single-rider) and ATVL (two-rider ) ATVs to make their way into U.S. dealerships, Segway didn’t waste any time in announcing the new models to the masses. The 500cc  ATV class is currently one of the hottest segments with consumers for usable power and affordability, so it only made sense for Segway to dive in head first.

 

So here’s what we know about the Segway AT5 Gladiator ATV so far:

  • All trim levels will come with a 499cc single-cylinder DOHC engine that makes 39 peak horsepower and 32.5 pound-feet of torque. Segway claims a top speed of 62 mph.
  • All models come standard with a Bosch EFI fuel system.
  • A belt-driven CVTech automatic transmission includes selectable 2WD/4WD with differential lock

  • The Gladiator AT5 has independent dual A-arm suspension at all four corners with 7.1 inches of travel up front and 7.9 inches at the rear.
  • Base models get oil shocks, but a premium trim will be available with piggyback reservoir gas shocks.
  • Ground clearance 9.8 inches.
  • The Gladiator will be available in a single and two-rider models with base and premium trims.
  • Wheelbase: AT5S 51.2 inches. AT5L 57.1 inches
  • The Segway AT5L Gladiator comes with plenty of room for two.

  • Gladiator base models come standard with 24-inch tires on 12-inch steel rims, or upgrade to premium with  25-inch tires on 12-inch  aluminum rims.
  • Base models will get three-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, while premium models get hydraulic discs at all four corners.
  • Curb weight:  AT5S 783 pounds / AT5L 816 pounds
  • Five gallon fuel capacity
  • There are five color choices to choose from, including TrueTimber Prairie Camo.
  • All models and trims come standard with LED lighting.
  • Liquid Crystal Display on dashboard
  • Adjustable electric power steering (EPS) can be dialed in with Comfort, Standard and Sport settings.
  • Racks have a hard composite cover for better stabilization of cargo with multiple anchor locations for straps.
  • Segway claims the racks can handle a combined capacity of more than 220 pounds, and a tow rating of more than 1,320 pounds.
  • Passenger seating and footwells are raised for better comfort and vision on the AT5L
  • Premium models are heavily accessorized and include a winch.
