HONDA TALON 1000X4 & FOX LIVE VALVE MODEL

Honda wanted the full outdoor experience for testing the new Talon 1000 X4 and X4 fox live valve edition, so we headed to Caliente Nevada. We made two 40 mile loops through the desert, switching between the base and live valve models. Without the live valve system, the ride is a little stiff. Because of input response from the I-4wd the handling is great for both high speed and controlled movement situations. The Fox setup allows for a slightly softer spring rate, and then option to choose sport or normal modes. Sport…

The Heat of WORCS Racing Round 6!

The heat didn’t stay away for the 6th round of WORCS Racing at the infamous Glen Helen Raceway, September 13-15th. Racers pushed the limits, battled through an ever changing rough course and the 100 plus degree temps for a chance at a podium spot. The course crew did their best to water the track enough for mud and slop to appear, and boulders where ripped out of the ground with each passing set of tires churning the Southern California dirt of Devore. Whoops, jumps, hill climbs, braking bumps, tracked out corners and the…

WHERE IS THE ALL-NEW HONDA TRX450R?!

We can't hide the truth. Our beloved sport ATV market has been taken over by roll cage equipped machines. Do we want to stick our noses up at the UTV market? Of course not! Those machines are a blast to drive, and get more people included in our favorite hobby: off-roading. But, if we are honest, we are very bummed out that the sport ATV market has fallen off the radar of most major manufacturers. In fact, Yamaha is the only remaining major manufacturer that offers a race ready 450 and a trail ready 700R straight axle sport…

EVO3 BATTERY POWER SYSTEM

-- PRODUCT EVALUATION -- It has been months since you last fired up your pride and joy. Thick layers of dust coat the plastic, the gas in the tank might be sour and the chance of the battery even still holding a charge is weak. Oftentimes, we forget that a battery needs upkeep and a regular diet of electrons throughout its life cycle. On top of that, choosing the right type of battery can be tricky too. We went to Ballistic Performance Components to obtain their EVO3 Power System that includes a lithium iron…

2019 Honda Talon 1000X Test

When we started to hear that Honda would build a sport UTV, we assumed it would be a single model motivated by some version of the proven Pioneer power train. We never imagined that there would be two models released at the same time! In addition to the 68.5 inch wide, 20-inch travel Talon 1000R, Honda used the same frame and 104-horsepower Talon engine package to create a true trail weapon named the Talon 1000X. The car’s exterior and interior specifications are all the same, but the 1000X double-wishbone front…
