CT POLARIS RZR 4 DYNAMIX

-- A desert wagon made to drive hard -- By the staff of Dirt Wheels Allen Knowles is the owner of CT Racing, and he has managed something extraordinary. No, we aren’t talking about this cool four-seat desert monster he built. He’s managed to find a wife who still likes to get out and hit trails in a rowdy UTV. Roxanne can navigate, feed the crew, or drive the dually and the trailer. Even more, she can stand to be a passenger when “Crazy Al” is driving. We’ll admit, we will only ride with him when the alternative is…

EVO POWERSPORTS RZR XP 1000 MAGNUM EXHAUST

--Testing a full-featured UTV exhaust at a pleasant price -- By the staff of Dirt Wheels We haven’t tested many exhaust systems for normally aspirated UTVs like the Polaris RZR XP 1000. Despite the fact that the XP 1000 is a best seller and the 1000cc UTV classes are almost always the largest number of entries at races, they are somewhat ignored by aftermarket companies. We selected an Evo Powersports slip-on muffler called a Magnum. CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALL It is a stainless steel muffler with packing that…

Last year’s KOH was tough, and this…

RAT-ROD RZR

-- A wild old-timer custom build -- By Casey Kramer Most of the builds we feature in Dirt Wheels magazine are all about the bling and the speed. This diamond-in the-rough XP 1000, on the other hand, was chosen because it caught our attention with its unique design and purpose. Being a mechanical engineer by trade, project owner Jonathan wanted something with style that would withstand his “work hard, play harder” mentality. The inspiration for the “Old-Timer” originally came from a love of classic ’30s-era trucks…

215 HORSEPOWER RZR BUILD

-- Kombustion Motorsports project UTV -- Kombustion Motorsports builds have graced the pages of Dirt Wheels in the past, and their impressive machines are just too nice to not feature here and there. Travis Gardner took on a 2017 Polaris RZR XP Turbo four-seater and changed its appearance, form and function to create a stylish yet off-road-worthy showpiece that is a mix of overland and dune styles. Sand is generally the favored terrain for this RZR, but we found it lurking around the desert, rocks and random dunes of…

REMOVE, CHECK, INSTALL CV AXLES

-- STEP-BY-STEP HOW TO GUIDE --  By the staff of Dirt Wheels We recently noticed that there was a lot of wet lubricant on one of our Polaris RZR front axles. Looking closely, we found that a stick had gone through the lower front part of the machine and wedged between the front axle CV and the front differential. We assumed the CV boot was punctured, so we pulled the axle out. This is what we found, and we thought it might help our readers. To begin, make sure the machine is supported safely, then remove the wheel.…
