The Heat of WORCS Racing Round 6!

The heat didn’t stay away for the 6th round of WORCS Racing at the infamous Glen Helen Raceway, September 13-15th. Racers pushed the limits, battled through an ever changing rough course and the 100 plus degree temps for a chance at a podium spot. The course crew did their best to water the track enough for mud and slop to appear, and boulders where ripped out of the ground with each passing set of tires churning the Southern California dirt of Devore. Whoops, jumps, hill climbs, braking bumps, tracked out corners and the…

None of those facts matter, though, if you don’t have a great machine to pilot in the…

PROJECT MACHINE: 4-STROKE 250R

A TRX450R/CRF250R hybrid/quad takes on TT racing By the staff of Dirt Wheels When we think of hybrid quads, those thoughts take us back to the late ‘90s and early 2000s when there was an odd transition going on in ATV racing. We’re talking about a time before quads like the LT-Z400, YFZ450, TRX450R, LTR450R, DS450 and KFX450R were released. The EPA was staking the heart of racing two-stroke engines. With Yamaha’s Doug Henry winning the 1998 outdoor national motocross championship…

PROJECT: Coastal Racing Yamaha YFZ450

The most prestigious woods race series for quads is the GNCC series. These are races that last a minimum of two full hours through the woods. At the start of the two hours the course is far from pristine. Many events are run on trails that are used in other races, and the Pro ATV class runs in the afternoon race, so literally hundreds of quads have already pounded the course before these guys even start. The engines are run very hard, since the entire race is composed of relatively short full-throttle bursts followed by…
