SUZ KINGQUAD VS KAW BRUTE FORCE  750 4X4

By the staff of Dirt Wheels SUZ KINGQUAD VS KAW BRUTE FORCE  750 4X4.   Suzuki has had great success with their hefty Brute Force 750 4x4i powerhouse. It hasn’t been upgraded in quite a while, but Suzuki performed a full makeover on the KingQuad 750AXi 4x4 in 2018. It was refaced, reworked, strengthened, and tuned to be a better version of its previous self. We jumped, crawled, clawed, submerged, and ripped the Brute Force and KingQuad through almost every type of terrain we could find. The specs are…

CAN-AM MAVERICK X3 X RS vs. POLARIS RZR TURBO DYNAMIX

-- Horsepower kings go head to head -- In the production UTV world of colossal horsepower and monstrous torque, there are two brands that stand in a power struggle atop the sport UTV world. The two companies that offer these titans of the UTV world are Polaris and Can-Am. The machines we’re speaking of are the Can-Am Maverick X3 X rs and Polaris RZR XP Turbo Dynamix. This contest shows no sign of ending, and it’s not just an engine power struggle; it’s a fight to have the best suspension, most comfort, superior 4WD,…

SHOOTOUT: Walsh Hybrid Suzuki LT500 vs. Honda CRF450R

What happens when you take a modern race chassis and stuff the most powerful ATV engine ever produced inside? A Suzuki dream machine is born. You see, the chassis kits Walsh Race Craft build are based on the legendary Suzuki LT-R450 Quadracer roller and is the top choice of any open-class racer today. Walsh components are found on top racers in both GNCC and AMA ATV MX racing, under names like Chris Borich and Chad Wienen who are current champions of the sport. That powerful engine is not a modern four-stroke, but a…

SHOOTOUT UTV: Arctic Cat Sport 700 vs. Kawasaki Teryx 800 vs. Polaris RZR S 900 vs. Yamaha Wolverine 700

The mid-sized performance UTV category is growing. In the last year, both Yamaha and Arctic Cat developed machines to go against the Polaris RZR S. Unfortunately for them, Polaris upped the cc on the RZR S to 875cc, making it even faster. Furthermore, Kawasaki has increased the power and suspension action of the Teryx to try and keep up. We see this category as a group of machines in the $15,000 price range that still needs to fit on 60-inch-wide trails, be hauled in the back of a pickup, and not necessarily used for work.…

SHOOTOUT: Honda 250R vs Suzuki Quadzilla 500

If you go to an ATV dealership or even check out the manufacturers’ websites these days, it looks like high-performance sport quads are sort of fading away. While sales of brand-new quads may be rebounding at only half the speed of the economy, people are still riding them in large numbers. Look at your local ride area and racetrack; in some cases, things are as good as they ever have been. Everything from modern four-strokes to old two-stroke quads and even three-wheelers are out and about enjoying this great sport.…

SHOOTOUT: Can-Am Outlander L 500 vs. Suzuki KingQuad 400ASi

We pitted the $6499 Suzuki KingQuad 400ASi against the $6999 Can-Am Outlander 500L to see if an older straight-axle machine can still hang with a modern-day ATV with independent rear suspension. The two contestants are a lot closer in price than they are in design. The Suzuki KingQuad 400ASi is Suzuki’s lowest-priced 4x4, while Can-Am does have one model cheaper in the 450L, which only sells for $6399. So if power or speed is of no concern, the 450 might be a closer comparison, and it comes in the same chassis as the 500.…

UTV SHOOTOUT: Kawasaki Mule PRO-FXT vs. Polaris Ranger XP 900

If you are in the market for a high-quality UTV that needs to be just as capable doing everyday chores as it is fun on the trail, there’s a lot to choose from. You probably want a dump bed rather than a small cargo rack, and you probably want a multi-passenger machine rather than a single-seater. In this class of sport utility machines, there are a lot of choices from companies like John Deere, Yamaha and Honda. But, two machines we have been even more impressed with since their release are the Kawasaki Mule PRO-FXT and the…

SHOOTOUT: 2008 Raptor 700 vs. Honda 700X

When we got the call that our Honda 700XX was ready for testing, we had just finished up our big-bore sport shootout. That contest featured the Polaris Outlaw 525, the KTM 525XC and Yamaha’s Raptor 700. The results were very close with the $7400 Raptor just edging out the 525 from KTM. So we decided to jump right into a shootout between that winning Raptor and Honda’s new $7900 700XX. The Raptor is powered by a big SOHC, liquid-cooled single cylinder four-stroke engine. It’s actual cc reading is a bit smaller than…
