WHERE IS THE ALL-NEW HONDA TRX450R?!

Take our 2021 readers survey for a chance to fin free tires and wheels. WHERE IS THE ALL-NEW HONDA TRX450R?! We can't hide the truth. Our beloved sport ATV market has been taken over by roll cage-equipped machines. Do we want to stick our noses up at the UTV market? Of course not! Those machines are a blast to drive and get more people included in our favorite hobby: off-roading. But, if we are honest, we are very bummed out that the sport ATV market has fallen off the radar of most major manufacturers. In…

EVO3 BATTERY POWER SYSTEM

EVO3 BATTERY POWER SYSTEM It has been months since you last fired up your pride and joy. Thick layers of dust coat the plastic, the gas in the tank might be sour and the chance of the battery even still holding a charge is weak. Oftentimes, we forget that a battery needs upkeep and a regular diet of electrons throughout its life cycle. On top of that, choosing the right type of battery can be tricky too. We went to Ballistic Performance Components to obtain their EVO3 Power System that includes a lithium…

PROJECT HONDA TRX450R: BACK TO THE FUTURE

A time-traveling DeLorean-inspired desert dasher By the staff of Dirt Wheels Think back to the 1980s if you can. And if you can’t, then you’ll surely recognize the futuristic film franchises that appeared during this time and still remain part of the fabric of our lives today—from cyborgs bent on creating mass destruction to a battle royal between the Force and the Dark Side. It was an epic time for sci-fi, as everyone was starting to get a glimpse into the future. One of the most iconic films…

BUYER’S GUIDE: 2016 Sport ATVs

Another year has passed, which means new and exciting ATV models have hit the market. Nowadays, these machines are coming with more features at better price points. Power steering is becoming a standard feature on a lot of new machines, which is a nice thing to have. The 4x4 market is gaining new models every year, which is a major plus; unfortunately, the sport-quad side of things is beginning to dwindle. There are less offerings of sport ATVs than we have seen in a long time. Yamaha’s Raptor 250 and 125 have become more…

BETTER LUCKY THAN GOOD!

We had a good day of testing today, and it was made better by the weather raining and snowing everywhere but on us! Those clouds in the background dropped a bunch of snow in the Angeles National Forest. We were a bit cold, but that is better than wet and cold! Look for more photos from today in the next Dirt Wheels Magazine.

READER’S RIDES: Tricked out TRX450Rs!

PROJECT ATV: Honda TRX450R Rat Rod Quad

The “rat rod” culture has been around since the ’50s. Back then, guys would take a worn-down car from the early 1900s to 1950s, chop and lower it, remove the fenders and add some serious horsepower, along with a couple of flashy parts. The rusty remnants of years of abuse and weathering on the body usually remain. There are several variations of the styles of rat rods depending on the owner or builder of the car. Some of the more notable trendsetters of the rat rod movement would be artists like Von Dutch for his Flying Eye…
