STREET-LEGAL RAPTOR

-- Drifting from the dirt onto the pavement --     Jeremy Othelet is a Dirt Wheels reader who lives in Margut, France. In his country ATVs can be made street legal with the proper equipment. As you can see here Jeremy has turn signals, mirrors and a license plate on his quad.     His Yamaha Raptor 700 is a good quad to make street legal, because it has enough power to cruise along at speeds above 70 mph. To improve the power Jeremy added a performance exhaust and intake system, fuel controller and hotter cam shaft.…

Edgardo Cartegena is one of those Puerto Ricans and we're going to take a look at his quad here. His 2019 Yamaha Raptor 700R SE has had a few things added to improve its performance while roosting through the tropical forests. In case you don't know, Belgium is a country in Europe and they ride ATVs there too. In fact, we sell many magazines there every month as well as a lot of other countries around the world. Anyway, Sirik sent us this photo in an e-mail and here's what he had to say: Hello Dirt Wheels, This is my very first quad. It's a 2006 Yamaha Raptor 700R and as you can see it still looks like it just came…

RAPTOR REVIVAL

-- How to improve your Raptor & give it a new look -- Yamaha’s Raptor 700 is the best-selling sport quad of its age, and for good reason. The four-wheeled powerhouse has a big-bore motor with a lot of torque, it handles well on all types of terrain and is comfortable to ride. This project Raptor started life as a fun racer in the hands of Russell Blake. It is a 2014 Special Edition model that was grey and black, but after a spill on the track and a lot of broken parts, the Yamaha is back and exceeding its former…

SHOOTOUT: 2008 Raptor 700 vs. Honda 700X

When we got the call that our Honda 700XX was ready for testing, we had just finished up our big-bore sport shootout. That contest featured the Polaris Outlaw 525, the KTM 525XC and Yamaha’s Raptor 700. The results were very close with the $7400 Raptor just edging out the 525 from KTM. So we decided to jump right into a shootout between that winning Raptor and Honda’s new $7900 700XX. The Raptor is powered by a big SOHC, liquid-cooled single cylinder four-stroke engine. It’s actual cc reading is a bit smaller than…
