LETTERS: DOUG HARRAL’S TPC HONDA MODERN TRIKE

TPC HONDA MODERN TRIKE

Dear Dirt Wheels,

I built my TPC 450X using a 2008 Honda TRX450ER ATV and a 2005 Honda CRF450 dirt bike. The job took one week, mostly in the evenings after work, and then one full Saturday.

I used the CRF cylinder head, cam, Kibblewhite valves, FCR carburetor with mods , front brakes, front brake rotor and brake cylinder, front forks, and other related parts in the conversion. The exhaust is a full Curtis Sparks Racing system with a spark
arrestor for riding in the mountains where I live here in northeast Oregon. It has a custom Boyesen water-pump impeller and silicone coolant hoses, and a KTM electric fan to keep it cool. I used a 3-inch extended swingarm and installed a billet parking-brake block-
off plate. It has an IMS oversized fuel tank for those longer trail rides.

Athena, OregonTPC HONDA MODERN TRIKEHey Doug, Sweet ride! We love seeing these modern three-wheelers come across our desks. We got a chance to ride a TPC Honda conversion a few months ago in the Arizona desert and were blown away by how stable and powerful these conversions are. Next time we’re up at the Oregon Dunes, you’ll have to join us for a ride! Thanks for sharing your letter and photo. – Dirt Wheels
