UTAH OFF-ROAD RENTALS & GUIDED TOURS

By the staff of Dirt Wheels UTAH OFF-ROAD RENTALS & GUIDED TOURS Utah has everything from stark salt flats to lush forests and mountain meadows, but when off-roaders think of the state, most mentally see red rock vistas. Areas like Zion, Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, and Moab have burned this impression on our minds. But after riding with Utah Off-Road Rentals and Guided Tours, we found that red slick rock is sweet, but Utah has more to offer off-roaders. Utah Off-Road is based out of La Verkin, Utah, not…

GNCC NEW RACING SCHEDULE

By the Staff of Dirt Wheels GNCC NEW RACING SCHEDULE GNCC Racing representatives are working closely with local officials and landowners in the states of Georgia and South Carolina. These states are actively developing reopening guidelines and are welcoming responsible group gatherings. Although it remains tentative, it is the plan of GNCC Racing to resume competition on May 16/17 at Aonia Pass MX in Washington, GA (same location as round 3) and then on May 30/31 at a location in South Carolina. ATV Motocross…

POLICE SEND MESSAGE ABOUT STREET RIDING

Authorities in Hartford, Connecticut are sending a clear message about joy riding on the streets and in area parks. Efforts would have been better spent auctioning off the machines to areas with legal trails bringing in tens of thousands of dollars into the city coffers. Connecticut is a very liberal run state and has almost no legal OHV trails so we don’t expect much from the leaders to know much in the off road arena.    This disturbing video was brought to you by WFSB Channel 3 Eyewitness News…

HISTORY LESSON: QUAD RACING CIRCA 1987

HISTORY LESSON: QUAD RACING CIRCA 1987 Back in the 1980s, ATV racing was hot. Top riders raced several circuits that crisscrossed the entire county not just the East Coast. The top riders of the day may be some names you still hear about now racing UTVs, building engines, running tire companies, or promoting national dirt bike races. Here you can watch the quad race at Carlsbad raceway from 1987. To subscribe to Dirt Wheels Magazine in print or digital form click here https://hi-torque.com/product/dirtwheels. …

UTAH OFF-ROAD ISSUE

UTAH OFF-ROAD ISSUE The state of Utah will no longer be honoring off-highway vehicle registrations from any other states beginning on Jan. 1, 2020. In past years, Utah has had standing agreements with some other states to honor each other’s OHV registration. This meant that visitors to Utah who had OHVs registered in states like Nevada were not required to obtain a nonresident user permit or pay a non-resident fee. In the 2019 General Session, the Utah Legislature passed H.B. 105, which removed this option from…

SEE THE USA ON AN ATV

-- Street legal wheelers -- By D. West In the motorcycle world adventure bikes are the big thing now. These vehicles are basically street bikes that are able to handle dirt roads and easy trails. They’re usually bigger than dual-sport bikes that tend to be in the 250cc to 450cc range. For those whose riding adventures occur more on dirt roads than paved roads, they actually would be better off on a mid-sized dual-sport than a 1000cc aadventure bike.  Brad Baker is a Dirt Wheels reader in Colorado who may have put…

ICE RACING BASICS

By the staff of Dirt Wheels with Josh Underwood, Photos by Stephen Tripp/www.stephentripp.com ICE RACING BASICS There is nothing Dirt Wheels loves more than a letter or an e-mail with a radical, high-quality photo included. Some relevant info is just a gilded frame on the shot. And then there are exceptional days like when we hear from photographer Stephen Tripp. We heard from Stephen out of the blue after the 2018 Daytona SX quad race. He was wondering if we wanted to use any of his photos from the event.…

UTV TAKEOVER INVADES OKLAHOMA

UTV TAKEOVER INVADES OKLAHOMA It was tons of fun for everyone when the UTV Takeover Invades Oklahoma event came to Little Sahara State Park in Waynoka, Oklahoma. This was back in September of 2020. Cara Miller was nice enough to send us some good photos of the action. From the looks of things, it seems like a good time was had by all.  Kevin Morris and his RZR put in some quick laps around the Short Course Competition. Tyler Hill put on a good show in the Wheelie Competition. Rusian Yankilevich catches some big air…

RIDING WITH THE COOL GROUP

By Karel Kramer RIDING WITH THE COOL GROUP We all know at least one of “those” guys. The one that has to have all of the cool stuff on his quad or UTV. The colors are coordinated, the stickers are perfectly placed, the tire tread bristles with critically sharp edges, and the machine itself is one the internet is still buzzing about. There is nothing wrong with this sort of obsession on the face of it. If your friend is the sort that has the ability to employ this sort of motorized perfection, or his choice of…
