RONCO’S NEW AQUA-QUAD PONTOONS
These heavy-gauge vinyl pontoons come in a rear-mounted carrying case. You take them out and hook up the quick-connect metal brackets to the quad’s floorboards. Next, you hit the switch to turn on the air compressor in the carrying case and the pontoons quickly inflate. After riding across the lake, you deflate the pontoons, detach and continue on merrily down the trail.
NEW HELMET LAW FOR DOGS
California’s politicians were outraged at the thought of dogs possibly having head injuries while riding ATVs or UTVs. Therefore, they took time away from other important legislative matters to pass this new state law that requires dogs to wear helmets.
NEW TRAILSIDE FACILITIES
Many riding parks are now providing rest areas that include bathrooms along remote sections of trails. They’re also making sure that Dirt Wheels magazines are there for those who need good reading material during the process. Phase two of the project will be to install walls around the bathrooms. That should begin next year.
ATV RIDERS CATCH BIGGER FISH
A new study has shown that ATV riders tend to hook larger fish. Research explains this by the fact that their 4×4 quads allow them to get way back to the secret fishing holes where the really big monster fish hang out. This has been causing an increase in quad sales at Bass Pro Shops around the country.
UTV-BOAT PRODUCTION DELAYED
We reported earlier about this prototype UTV that transforms into a boat when the wheels fold up into the hull. However, they still haven’t been able to bring it to market at a realistic price. As it stands now, you can buy a RZR Turbo and an 18-foot boat, outboard and trailer for half the price of this ocean-going UTV.
YAMAHA’S NEW SNOWMOBILE
Their market strategy was to provide a different style of performance snow machine, and they did so by simply adding a track and skis to the popular YFZ450R. Expect it to hit Yamaha dealer showrooms on April the first.
