BIG UPSET IN CEDAR CITY AS BRADEN JUDGE WINS!

The last round before Summer break during the 2024 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC WORCS Series headed to Cedar City, Utah, to battle it in the trees at Cedar Beach Oasis. A fast course with lap times in the 8-minute range had drivers pushing their machines as fast as they could with wheel-to-wheel action all weekend. After battling with his father weekly, Braden Judge wins Pro Production as Sebastian Marquez continues his hot streak, winning again in the Pro Stock division.

On Saturday afternoon, the Pro production lined up six wide with a stacked line of some of the best SXS drivers on the West Coast. Unfortunately, Shawn Saxton had a mishap during practice on Friday, resulting in a broken wrist, which sidelined him for the weekend. We wish him a speedy recovery and a return to racing soon. This round was filled with action and started as soon as the green flag flew. Beau Judge flew to the front as they funneled into the first turn. Behind him, Braden Judge and Jeremiah Wagner came in side by side, and as wheels touched, it sent Wagner up and over, flipping his car over the first turn and landing on its side and limped it back to the pits to get worked on to salvage some points and make it back on track.

After careful consideration, the Judge was not penalized for the incident as it was deemed a racing incident with both drivers looking to grab that position early in the race. The two Can-Ams captured a 30-second lead over Beau Baron early on, but a mechanical issue caused Beau to pull over and Braden to take the lead during the third lap of this race. Baron pushed his Polaris Pro R to the max, but a freak mishap causing his seatbelt to come undone forced him to pull over mid-race to buckle his seatbelt back in place giving up some valuable time and allowing Braden to settle into the front of the back. In only his second race in the new car formerly owned by Larry Heidler, Paxton Schendel slid in front of Baron after the quick pit stop. The Checkered flag flew as Braden won his first Pro Production race, with Paxton getting his best finish yet. Baron also continues his consistent season, grabbing some valuable points, with Beau Judge finishing 5th place. This 5th place also snaps his 11 consecutive wins in the Pro Production class and allows Baron to cut down the points deficit to 14 with three of the most brutal rounds to come.

WORCS UTV RACE REPORT

In the weekend’s final race, Pro Stock had quite a dramatic race as well. Paxton Schendel found himself out front in his Polaris RS1 early, but a tipover in the back part of the track set him back dramatically to start the race. Once he could get pushed back over, he continued racing, keeping his eyes on the podium. Marquez and Karsen Sandberg battled for most of the race, with Sandberg leading for the entire race till the final lap. On the final section of the Offroad portion, he lost steering and pushed the button for 4wd, and it sent him into the bushes and set him back a few minutes allowing Marquez to pass him on the final lap and bring it home for the win to make it 4 in a row. Sandberg found his way out of the bushes and back on track to bring home a second-place victory, and Schendel recollected after a rough beginning and finishing 3rd in the Pro Stock Class.

Thanks to all the Racers, Volunteers, Workers, and crew at Cedar Beach Oasis for a fantastic weekend of Racing. We wish everyone a safe and fun Summer Break. We hope to see you in September for the first round back at the Dinosaur City of Vernal, Utah.
