WOULD YOU RUN THIS FULL TIME?

MAVERICK X3 A-ARM QUESTION

A DIRT WHEELS FAN WRITES: “I have a 2020 Can-Am Maverick X3 that I dune with a lot, like every weekend that I can! Currently, I can’t afford aftermarket A-arms. And I really would like a set due to the known inherent weakness of the lower front a-arms. Until I can afford new stronger aftermarket a-arms, I was thinking of installing some of the Geiser Performance Lower A-arm emergency braces to strengthen the weak area of the factory lower A-arms at the bend. People have told me both that it is a good idea and that it will just cause the A-arms to bend or break in a new different place. What is your expert opinion on this? Good idea or not so good idea!” – Jim Harwood, Las Vegas, NV

OUR PRO ANSWER: Well Jim, I can toe the party line and say that this kit is ONLY to be used for emergencies! However, I would bet there are people in the dunes today with bent X3 lower A-arms that are running the Geiser Performance emergency kits and have been for quite a while. The kit most certainly will greatly strengthen the weak area of the X3 A-arms at the bend. The downside is, if you get too frisky and land wrong, the next weakest part of the A-arm or other front end component will bend or break. Remember, excrement happens to the best of us usually at the most inopportune time. So, you can install the kit and hope nothing else bends or wait until you do bend the lower A-arm and then install the kit. I know that if I was operating an X3, that Geiser Performance emergency A-arm repair kit would be in my tool bag just so I could get myself back to base camp without a tow.
