DIRT WHEELS OCTOBER LETTERS

DIRT WHEELS OCTOBER LETTERS

Since Dirt Wheels Magazine’s beginnings, the Letters section and Reader’s Rides have been subscriber favorites. It’s also a cherished section by the editors of Dirt Wheels, as we love hearing from you and seeing what you ride. Check out the letters we received for the October issue below. At the bottom, we’ll tell you how to get your picture and story in the next issue of Dirt Wheels.

Hi Dirt Wheels,
This is me and my 1984 Honda ATC 200x. My ATC has lots of custom work done to it,
key points being the whole rear end and shock are out of a 2002 yamaha blaster, and it
has an electric start 250cc engine. I usually ride at Walker Valley ORV and Moses Lake
Sand Dunes, as well as on occasion participating in races held by QuadCross NW.
– Maxwell Bird, Marysville, WA

Dear Dirt Wheels,
Riding The Ole 1988 Tecate4 – love playing in the sand pits…
– Steven Zelasko, Old Bridge, NJ

Hi Dirt Wheels,
My name is Robert McCraw. I am a few years into riding my own three-wheeler from
racing MX, to GP style, to finishing Vegas to Reno. For me, Glamis is the best place to
ride. The sand is so forgiving, enjoyable, and an amazing family environment in season.
Have met some of my best friends out there and have had some of the best weekends.
– Robert McCraw, Tempe, AZ

Dear Dirt Wheels,
Here we are in Glamis, deep in the dunes!
– Jason and Steve Lohrbach, Mission Viejo, CA

Hey Dirt Wheels!
This is my 1987 TRX250R, with Full bore plastics, Roll design arms, PEP revalved rear
shock, Axis front shocks, Walsh swingarm and stem, Flexx bars, AC Nerf bars, JSR
Nets. Stock, gusseted frame, Paul bilt racing stock cylinder, 4 mil build, LED pipe and
silencer, KMW Exhaust mounts and cap. She's a runner!
Riding out of Chandler Arizona and I enjoy everything from sand to gnarly desert in and
around the 4 peaks area. I race with WORCS as well as the local circuit with AZOP. Any
time on four wheels is a good time.
Long time reader, keep up the great content!
Ian Kubik, Chandler, AZ

Hey Dirt Wheels,
Here is my 1998 Yamaha Blaster build! I bought it as a roller with motor in buckets.
It has vapor blasting and zinc plating done by Nick's Vapor Honing Services, hardware
and lots of billet goodies from Shawn Howell at HPM, and all lathe worth done by Josh
Hoke. All of the engine work was done by Dillon Swope at Swope Racing- ported vitos
240 cylinder, port matched cases and gasket. 3mm stroker crankshaft, lightened
flywheel and balancer, head cut for 100 octane, shift star mod, wiseco clutch basket,
modded inner hub, driveline clutch kit, and more.
I ride all over Louisiana and MS and a few private trails.
Shaun McDonald, Natchez, MS

Dear Dirt Wheels,
I am a subscriber and have been reading your magazine since the 1980s. Last week we
were in Honningsvag, Norway and had an opportunity to ride ATVs.
We brough along the latest copy of DW and left it with the dealership that set up the ride
(Destinasjon71-Nord.no) Our group was able to ride both on the local roads and off road
in the municipality of Nordkapp.

Our ride at home in Oregon is a Polaris XP4 Turbo which spends most of its time at the
Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.

– Larry & Cathie Raaf, Oregon

Dear Dirt Wheels,
Here’s a recent trip to Badlands Bash event! Lots of content creators were at this event
and lots of video’s & memories were made! Be sure to check out next year’s (2025) – it
will be another good time for sure! We are doing our part to keep sport quads & dirt bikes
alive!
– Mike Kuchenbrod Shepherdsville, Kentucky

Hey Dirt Wheels,
This is my 1986 atc 250r I picked up as a roller at 17 years old and have been putting it
together over the last year and finally got to take it out on the Oregon dunes. It’s not
even close to how I want it yet but it’s slowly getting there
– Evan Jenkins, Creswell, OR

Dear Dirt Wheels,
It’s been almost seven years since Joe came out and he will hopefully be getting a dirt
bike or ATV soon. For Kyle, it’s been even longer, but he still has his old bike. My dad,
David and I also had a great day of riding.
– Henry Muro, Highland, IN
