WORST STUCK

-- Hey, it happens. It's part of riding. You come up to a mud hole on the trail and you have to use your masterful skill to claw your way across. However, sometimes your machine comes to a stop and no amount of forward and reverse will make a difference. At that point you just have to accept the fact you're stuck. So, what do you do? Well, first get your mind set right, because the only difference between an ordeal and an adventure is attitude. Getting your machine unstuck is part of the fun. And, while having that fun you…

QUAD RIDES ACROSS WATER

ANOTHER GREAT MOMENT IN ATV HISTORY It happened right after the world changed from 1999 to the year 2000, and Dirt Wheels was there to capture the epic event on film for all to see. In case you missed it here is your chance to see the full story as it appeared in our February 2000 issue. It's still amazing even to this day.

WINTER RIDING FUN

By D. West -- It’s that time of year when the weather becomes colder and we transition from autumn to winter. For Southern California riders, it means they get to spend more time riding in the desert and sand dunes, which are too hot at other times of the year. For riders in other parts of the country, it means they may have to deal with snow on the trails. The good thing about quads and UTVs is that they’re able to travel across snow very effectively if it’s not too deep. In fact, it can be…

10 ATVs YOU DON’T SEE EVERY DAY —

A Honda TRX1100R is something you rarely see. Aprilia V-twin 450 quads are indeed quite rare. Maybe in the winter you might catch a glimpse of A Raptor 700 with skis and snow paddles on the rear tires. Only once have we seen a 150 hp snowmobile racing in the desert with a quad front end. If you go to a sled-pull you might see a Banshee set up like this. A KTM 85 quad is something you don't see every day. A Honda TRX600EX doesn't show up on the trails too often. Only at the…

HMF WILL BLOW YOU AWAY–

Back in the 1980s there was a classic TV commercial from Maxell audio cassettes. Younger folks won't remember it, but now they can see the remake on HMF's website. Instead of a stereo speaker, they have their exhaust system to blast out even better sounds. The Dirt Wheels crew got a kick when watching the video and we give the guys at HMF a thumbs up. TOUGHEST RACE IN THE U.S.

2017 King of the Hammers, By the staff of Dirt Wheels -- Imagine trying to climb boulders the size of cars and drive through the roughest and most grueling desert terrain you could find in Southern California’s Johnson Valley for over four hours. That is exactly what 79 UTVs and their drivers and copilots set out to do, attempting to complete the Nitto King of the Hammers UTV race sponsored by Can-Am. It isn’t a race for the faint of heart. Hammertown isn’t an actual town, but it…

PAYING TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND!

❏ We owe a great deal to dedicated ATV owners who spend the time and money to keep the legendary machines from our sport’s past alive and more than well. In this case, a Duncan Racing International, Inc. customer chose to unite two legends—Duncan Racing and a 1987 Suzuki LT-500R QuadRacer. The LT-500R moniker is all but lost in common vernacular; the machine has simply become known as “Quadzilla.” Quadzilla is an allusion to the fictional Japanese monster Godzilla that is, as you may imagine, not famous for its…
