HOW TO COOL YOUR POLARIS UTV CAB IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER
DW FAN WRITES IN: “We have a Polaris 2021 Trail Premium that we simply could not stand to ride in during the Arizona summers because of cab heat. It felt like a sauna! After some research, I installed a Cool Cab kit from Wolfsnout, as well as their Behind the Seat shield kit. While the heat in the cab is reduced, there is still engine heat entering the cab behind the right seat on the right-hand side by the side panel. Is there anything else I can do to cut down the heat besides only ride in the winter?” —Terry Wilson Scottsdale, AZ
OUR EXPERT OPINION: Well, winter riding is an option that I can guarantee will work! That Cool Cab kit and the Behind the Seat shield do not cover the area over the motor’s exhaust, so you will get some heat from that panel as you described. I would take some Reflectix aluminum bubble insulation that you can find at any home center or hardware store and cover the entire side panel and affix it with aluminum foil tape that is also available from the same places as the Reflectix. That should practically eliminate the last vestiges of motor heat entering your cab. I assume you viewed the installation video that is posted by Wolfsnout about using Gorilla tape to seal the upper firewall to the lower firewall to eliminate that leakage source, too.
