LETTERS – YOU CAN BE IN DIRT WHEELS!
YOU CAN BE IN DIRT WHEELS!
Do you know what the best part of working at Dirt Wheels Magazine is? It’s hearing from all of you and putting YOUR stories and photos inside the pages of every issue of Dirt Wheels Magazine. If you ride a sport quad, recreational ATV, 3-wheeler side-by-side, UTV, lawn mower, motorized bar stool, tractor… SEND THEM IN! Maybe you even ride 2-wheelers in addition to your 4-wheeled fun like us – LET’S SEE THOSE TOO! Make sure it’s a reasonably high-resolution photo (400 kb or more if possible) with a few sentences to a paragraph telling us about you, what you ride, and the places you ride at. This has always been one of the most popular sections of Dirt Wheels Magazine – BE SEEN AND HEARD!
WHERE TO SEND YOUR LETTERS
If you would like you and your machine featured in the Dirt Wheels “Letters” section, please e-mail a high-resolution image to [email protected], and include a short paragraph about it. Also include your city and state. Remember, moving ATV and SXS riders must have a helmet on; riders not moving can have their helmets off.
Here are a few Letters we received in for the December issue…
Hi, Dirt Wheels,
I’m Robert Coates from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. All riding is fun, mud or trail in the bush-bush (Ranger Crew), but nothing—I mean nothing—is better than jump-
ing the race RZR on an MX track. I race in the Alberta Triple Crown Race Series in Alberta, Canada, and there is nothing better than being on the track with 5–10 other SxS’ bumping tires, going as fast as you can, battling with the other racers, and collecting air miles.

Dear Dirt Wheels,
I’m Bristol Myer, and I’m a 10-year-old girl from Alberta, Canada. I race my Polaris 170 in the Triple Crown Series in western Canada. 2024 was my rookie year, and I had never raced or even been on a track until round one of the Triple Crown Series. I worked my butt off and ended up third overall for the championship. I’m pumped to put the time in during the off-season and come back even stronger in my 2025 season!

Dear Dirt Wheels,
Hey, my name is Vince Castronovo. I have been riding and racing ATVs and now SxS’ since the early ’90s. We actually did a photo shoot with Dirt Wheels Magazine featuring JD Racing Banshees back in 1992. My bike is the lower left-hand corner! This was taken in Glamis, California. I now race in the Sand Outlaw Series, and our last race of the year is always back in California at Glamis. It’s been 37 years of sand-dune memories!

Hey, Dirt Wheels,
This is my newest whip, a trike I threw together this winter. I’m a lifelong reader, and this is my first time writing in. I’m doing my part to keep three-wheelers alive and well in America’s Dairyland.

Hey, Dirt Wheels,
Nolan and Luka gearing up to hit their Adirondack property in South Colton, New York. They are cousins, and when they get together, it is
their favorite thing to do.

Hi, Dirt Wheels,
My name is Joel, and this is my 2023 Can-Am Commander 1000R XT-P. She has a few customizations. We live in Wyoming and can be in the wilderness in minutes from our driveway. This location is the Libby Flats in the Snowy Range, and we are at 10,000 feet on this plateau. It’s a stunning area. We love to gear up and drive the hundreds of miles of trails here, often seeing few people in a day of riding. Cheers to all the off-road warriors out there.

Hey, Dirt Wheels,
I bought this Banshee new in 2003 and sold it to my friend Sumo in 2007, who promised to sell it back. I began restoring it in 2018 with guidance from Blake Wilkey. The engine features bored cylinders with Wiseco pistons and a milled head for higher compression. Custom parts include wheels from OMF, a seat from PRP, and a high-output starter from Ricky Stator. The suspension is Lone Star’s +2+1, with the steering stem at a +2+2, and it has custom 28mm purple carburetors from SmartCarb, and Trinity Racing Stage 5 pipes. Additional upgrades include custom bumpers and a +4-inch extended swingarm with Elka shocks. Special thanks to my wife, Tara, and kids McKenna, Meadow, and Micah for their support.

Dear Dirt Wheels,
I’m writing on behalf of my best friend Myles. He’s a 31-year-old past islander living in Saskatchewan. This man has been through it! Breaking free from an abusive marriage, he set out this year looking to take first at the Triple Crown Race Series. I’ve known the dude for almost a year, and if there’s anyone who deserves it and is ready for a load of sponsors, it’s this man.
Unfortunately, mental health has created resistance in receiving all his greatest desires; however, it didn’t take the championship title from him. I’m sending a photo of the last of the races in Cold Lake. He set out to ride clean, stay safe and keep the machine in one piece. Unfortunately, after destroying everybody at the holeshot halfway through the last race, he was hit extremely hard from behind, sending his machine for a roll. We are so grateful for the proper five-point harness, helmet and other gear that kept him out of harm’s way.
So much gratitude, chaos manager, the gambler racing.
Kass
