MULE PRO-FXR TAIL-LIGHT SWITCH?

A DIRT WHEELS FAN WRITES: “I have a 2018 Kawasaki Pro FXR that we use for nighttime feral hog hunting. What I would like is to somehow cut power to the always-on rear taillights to make us less visible at night to the hogs. I understand why Kawasaki wired the taillights that way, some safety lawyer thing, but for our application, we really need those lights off during the hunt.” – Bill Freeman, Gonzales, TX.

OUR PRO ANSWER: Interesting question and an interesting use for your Mule. The easiest way to cut off the taillights is to break the Red wire feeding the taillights and insert a switch. If you want the taillights to only come on with the headlights then you would tap into the Brown/Yellow wire located at the headlight switch and then install your switch there. Then you would run a separate wire to the taillights where you would break that Red wire and connect your wire to that Red wire going to the taillights. Thus when the headlight switch is on, power is fed along your new feed wire to power the taillights.
