RIDE COMMAND ADDS GLAMIS HEAT MAP
RIDE COMMAND ADDS GLAMIS HEAT MAP
Our go-to navigation app, Ride Command, has added a cool new feature that will not only help you find landmarks in the vast Glamis sand dunes—it shows you the most common routes to get there. The Heat Map function shows increased activity along routes that stretch from the popular camp or staging areas to favorite destinations like the Swing Set, Sunset Hill, the Drags or more remote areas like China Wall, which you can see has a direct route from Wash 23. Speaking of washes, you can see the most activity around Wash 12 and 18. To see the Heat Map on your smartphone, hit “Map” and zoom in to the area of Glamis or in the magnifying-glass search
window, and type in “Imperial Sand Dunes.” Next, you should see faint red blotches getting more pronounced as you zoom in. Once you see it, several binocular icons will pop up. Tap on any of those icons and you will see the name of that section of the dunes. From there, you can set a waypoint and point your UTV that direction. Make sure you track your ride so you know how to make it back to your camp. Be safe out there this dune season.
For now, this is the only ride area with Heat Map functionality, but more areas will be added soon. Ride Command can be used on all smartphones, on a laptop or desktop and, of course, inside equipped Polaris machines.
