KYMCO UXV 700i

Kymco has five different versions of its UXV 700i. The base model has steel wheels with limited features. You can upgrade to the LE EPS, LE EPS Camo, LE Prime Edition and the LE Hunter Edition. The final four machines have a winch, 14-inch cast-aluminum wheels and power steering as standard features. The LE Hunter is $600 less than in 2019.

Kymco’s most compact UTV is the 443cc UXV 450i. It’s small-bore EFI four-stroke engine is liquid-cooled. It comes with a locking front differential. It can tow 1200 pounds, and the tilting cargo bed can hold 440 pounds. It comes in a new LE Prime model, a Hunter Edition, Limited Edition, Turf and camo model as well. It should fit in a full-size truck bed.

Massimo’s military-look, steel-bodied Warrior comes as a 60-horsepower 800 or 85-horsepower 1000X. The 1000 is available with a hard cab with heat and air conditioning. There is a 6-seat crew model, but it comes only as a hard cab with heat and A/C. The 70-inch track Warrior is super stable. A smaller (engine and physically) Warrior 700 retails for $10,799.

The T-Boss is somewhat new to the Massimo family. For 2020 it comes as a 410, 500, 550, 750 and diesel 1100. The styling and some dimensions differ, but they all have four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, and a 3500-pound winch is a standard feature. One of the 1100s is a hard cab model.

Polaris’s newest heavy hitter is the 64-inch 2020 RZR Pro XP. It has a longer wheelbase, far stouter chassis than past RZRs, more rear-wheel travel, 181 horsepower and 30-inch tires stock. The XP and XP Premium have Walker Evans shocks while the Ultimate has Ride Command and the Dynamix system with Fox Live Valve computerized shocks.

Polaris released the 168-horsepower, 72-inch track Turbo S models in 2019 with a new frame, upgraded bodywork, cockpit ergonomics, longer suspension travel with redesigned Fox Live Valve shocks for the S and Walker Evans Velocity shocks on the lower-priced model. These are the first machines with 32-inch tires from the factory.

The Fox Edition has EPS and fully adjustable Fox shocks. Tackling tight trails is a blast in a rig this size.

The RZR 170 is Polaris’ smallest sport UTV, and it’s designed for youth drivers to have just as much fun as the adults do on the trails. An EFI, four-stroke engine motivates this two-wheel drive. It has swingarm rear suspension and single-A-arm front suspension. Braking consists of a four-wheel hydraulic disc system.

Polaris’ RZR RS1 is a favorite of racers and recreational drivers. It shares the same 999cc, parallel-twin-cylinder engine as the RZR XP 1000, along with the suspension design and travel. The wheelbase is a few inches shorter than a two-seat RZR XP, and the weight is close to the same. It comes at a much easier price tag to swallow.

It lost the standard General’s towing capacity but still handles 600 pounds in the bed. It comes with a Stage 1 Rockford Fosgate sound system. EPS is standard.

The newish Ranger XP 1000 EPS has been accepted enthusiastically by the industry for good reason. It has a huge 2500-pound towing capability. There are many different versions, including EPS, Premium, High Lifter and NorthStar with full-cab enclosure (heat and air conditioning!). The engine puts out 82 horsepower. There is also a Texas Edition.

The engine is a 44-horsepower ProStar single-cylinder engine. A six-seater Ranger Crew 570-6 model can do a lot of work for the price.

The 32-horsepower Polaris Ranger 500 is the least expensive workhorse in the 2020 line. If you step a version up, you get the 44-horsepower base 570 or Crew 570-4, but you can get the 570 or 570-4 with EPS, automotive paint and aluminum wheels. MacPherson-strut front suspension and dual-A-arm rear suspension provide a smooth ride on all of these models.

SSR’s SRU170RS is the only UTV in its 2020 lineup. It is a little tough for a 6-foot adult to drive, but we love that an adult can easily ride passenger to teach youth drivers! It comes with, a spare tire, light bar, door nets, and it can fit in a full-size truck bed. This little two-wheel-drive ride is super fun for the whole family.

The YXZ1000R line gained important upgrades in 2019. Lower transmission gearing to help propel larger 29-inch Maxxis Bighorn tires. The radiator was relocated to the rear of the vehicle to keep clear of mud and debris while reducing in-cab heat. The front rotors on the SE were enlarged for better stopping power. The frame was updated as well.
