Who remembers the June 1985 issue of Dirt Wheels, which included the most anticipated  2-stroke shootout of that year. The big news came from Suzuki with the launch of the first true high-performane four-wheeled ATV, Honda launched the third generation of the ATC, Yamaha jumped in to the three-wheeled mix with the 1985 Tri-Z250, and Kawasaki was back with its high-revving Kawasaki Tecate 3. There was a winner, which is still arguable today, but that machine would change the direction of sport ATVs for decades. Whether you agree with the results or not, it was a great time for sport machine fans on three or four wheels. Even the ads are cool! Check out the one for Westcoast Swingarms.
